Getting Started - What is plaster/render?

Bethany Evans Posted this on 19 Apr 2024

Plastering or rendering is a method of using a coating similar od sand and lime over the existing brickwork/stonework. The difference between them is when application is on outside walls it is referred to as rendering while covering internal walls to make them ready to be painted is called plastering. The difference can also be distinguished by the strength of the material that is used. External walls are exposed, so will often have a stronger render (this is not always the case). Where internal wall has a weaker material, as they are not exposed to the elements.
