Getting Started - What does “Breathable” mean in a Limecrete floor?

The breathability of a limecrete slab is often misunderstood in how it relates to the performance of the slab within a building. The Limecrete does allow the absorption and release of moisture and vapour from the top and bottom faces of the slab, however with the Glapor below the slab the amount of moisture that comes into contact with the slab is not enough to allow moisture absorbed from the bottom side to permeate up through the 100mm limecrete and out of the top. This means the “breathability” of the slab is limited to the face where the moisture is present, any moisture at the bottom of the slab will be absorbed and released to the bottom.
