Earthborn Claypaint is a unique paint with unique qualities. But what makes it so special?

Eco friendly paint

The first thing most people notice when they open a tin of Claypaint is that it has little or no smell, so there’s no need to move out of a room after painting. Claypaint is free from oils, acrylics and vinyl and carries the independently accredited Ecolabel. It’s virtually VOC free too.

Careful ingredient selection means we avoid known allergens making it suitable for use in babies or children’s rooms (it’s even safe on toys and furniture) and many allergy and asthma sufferers experience benefits with using Claypaint too.*

Great coverage and a light enhancing finish

Earthborn Claypaint is available in 72 beautiful shades, from soft neutrals to bold, rich tones – proving that eco paint colours needn’t be limited. The luxuriously thick, creamy consistency and high clay solids means it covers exceptionally well, even over dark colours, and often only one coat is needed. With a distinctive, ultra-flat matt finish unique to Claypaint, it softens and enhances the light in your room.

Highly breathable

Being highly breathable, Claypaint is especially suitable for use on lime plaster, in older properties and buildings that may have suffered from damp problems. Unlike many conventional emulsions, it doesn’t seal the walls but instead lets air and water vapour flow freely through its surface, reducing the likelihood of moisture build up. Trapped moisture can cause paint to bubble, peel and eventually blow completely and can also lead to much bigger problems within the fabric of the building itself. Claypaint however allows the walls to breathe.

A healthier environment

The moisture absorbing qualities of Claypaint help to regulate the humidity in a room, thus reducing condensation, mould and mildew and making for a healthier, more comfortable living environment.

Its high clay content helps destroy airborne odours and contaminants and emits negative ions. Higher ambient levels of negative ions are widely accepted as being beneficial to health and wellbeing, especially for allergy and asthma sufferers. The super powers of clay also minimises static electricity build up, so reducing dust and allergens.

A water-based Eco Chic makes updating furniture a dream. Available in 72 scrumptious shades, it’s quick drying and can be used in a variety of creative ways. And because it’s Virtually VOC free and breathable, it cares for your furniture too. Finish with Earthborn Furniture Wax or Furniture Glaze for stand out pieces.

Eggshell 17 (Internal Wood Only)

Earthborn Eggshell No.17 is a durable, washable and scuff resistant environmentally friendly paint suitable for interior woodwork. It has a silk finish and a unique formulation that is totally oil free, containing virtually no VOCs.

Eggshell No. 17 can be used on skirting, doors and frames, shelving, panelling, furniture and kitchen cabinets, when primed using our Multi Purpose Primer.
