At Tŷ-Mawr, we are committed to sustainability and to creating environmentally friendly systems for buildings of all ages. We were thrilled to be chosen to supply a recent exciting project featured in the Victorian House Retrofit Case Study on the Detail Library website. This project showcases how traditional buildings can be modernised while retaining their charm and improving energy efficiency—a perfect alignment with our ethos.
“Sourcing a tried and tested vapour permeable Internal Wall Insulation system build up and limecrete floor system suitable for solid walled properties, with all materials easily obtained from a single source supplier, was quite difficult.
After a lot of research, a system by a Welsh company called Ty Mawr was selected. They offered a suite of tried and tested systems for the Internal Wall Insulation and limecrete floor slab. Ty Mawr also offered good customer service and helped produce specification breakdowns of all the components required”.
In this case study, Tŷ-Mawr’s products were incorporated into the retrofit of a beautiful Victorian house, helping to upgrade its thermal performance while preserving the character of the structure. Our materials played a key role in enhancing the building's energy efficiency, and contributing to healthier indoor air quality.
It’s rewarding to see our lime-based plasters, breathable paints, and insulation products come to life in such an inspiring project. The use of Tŷ-Mawr’s insulation systems not only supports sustainability but also highlights the potential for high-quality, environmentally conscious materials to be used in modern retrofitting.
We are delighted to be mentioned in this case study and look forward to more opportunities to collaborate on projects that preserve the beauty of heritage buildings while making them fit for a sustainable future.
