2025 Course Dates Announced!

We are delighted to annouce our 2025 course dates. Ty-Mawr has been running specialist courses in the traditional and ecological building since 1996 on the site of their head office on the shore of Llangorse Lake near Brecon. The restored training centre is based in a beautiful complex of Grade II* listed buildings, formerly a farmstead, in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Mid Wales. The refurbished Training Centre was opened on 22nd June 2009 by Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The site is still the family home of the founders of Ty-Mawr, Nigel and Joyce Gervis and their children, and is an ongoing restoration project.

2025 dates include, Introduction to Lime, this two-day course combines our One Day Introduction to Lime and One Day Lime Plastering courses. It looks at plastering in more detail and provides considerably more time for practical hands-on work. It is suitable for anyone involved in the repair of old buildings or in the construction of ecological new-builds – contractors, homeowners and specifiers with a basic knowledge of lime and/or plastering. You should wear suitable work clothes. Tools and any protective clothing required will be supplied.

Limecrete Floor Day - Discussing the appropriate use, specification, construction and laying of limecrete floors. This day takes delegates through the technology of limecrete floors, where to use them, site preparation, mixing, laying and aftercare.For well over a decade now Ty Mawr Lime Ltd have been researching and developing the insulated limecrete flooring system to be able to offer you the best materials from both a technical and environmental point of view. Our team are able to design a floor to meet the needs of your specific building, ensuring you get the best performance and meet building regulations if required.

Retrofit Insulation Day - suitable for anyone involved in specification or product selection of traditional and sustainable building materials. They will provide an excellent opportunity to share some of the latest thinking and product and systems innovation. These courses will discuss the appropriate use, specification, construction and application.
